We are so excited to be welcoming our first schools to the NEW Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre next month and we can’t tell you how much work has gone into getting the site ready since we were handed the keys back in NOVEMBER.

We have been cleaning, clearing, building, painting, erecting our new bunkhouse tents, getting our instructor team ready to roll and making sure we have a jam-packed schedule of epic activities for the children. We are now on the countdown to our first arrivals, and we cannot wait!

When we started planning for this coming season, we knew that we wanted to offer the children who visit Porthpean OEC the most amazing experience and memories that we could possibly deliver. The team here are all passionate about the enormous benefits of outdoor education and we hope to inspire the children, teachers, and families who visit us to feel the same.

So what’s new? Well, we still have the same awesome adventurous activities as always – on land we have the high ropes course, archery, caving experience, and climbing wall, and on the ocean, we have coasteering, SUP and Mega SUP, kayaking, bodyboarding and surfing.  But wanting to be even better, we asked previous visiting schools about their past experience.  We listened and acted on their feedback, adding some awesome new adventures! 2023 will see the children visiting Porthpean OEC playing laser tag, enjoying live music, and dancing the evening away to a silent disco. Live performances with bedtime stories will (hopefully!) relax and send them off to a sound night’s sleep.

And speaking of bedtime, just wait until you see our new tent villages! There will be no crawling in and out of small, wet tents at Porthpean OEC. Our brand-new bunkhouse tents leave plenty of room to stand up and move around, space for storing bags and clothes, plus beds that are off the ground, away from the cold and the wet. It’s glamping for kids!

And we think the biggest change to Porthpean Outdoor is that everyone can now enjoy a Cornish Adventure… For the summer holidays, we will be opening the centre up for short breaks to adventurous families!   All stays will be fully inclusive of activities and meals, so there will be no need to worry about what to do or where to eat.  Our instructors will schedule an amazing array of activities for you and your family, tailoring your activities to the ages and abilities in your group. And the best bit?… For one night during your stay, we will take your kids on an evening adventure allowing you some adult time to sunset SUP, go out for dinner or drinks, or just take a long walk along the stunning Cornish coast.
