Coasteering

Explore the Cornish coast

Coasteering at Porthpean

Coasteering is a thrilling way to explore the Cornish coast.

Paddling out to our start point, you will then make your way along the coast by swimming, climbing, jumping, and low-level traversing. Our routes are suitable for everyone, with low level jumps, calm waters, coastal features and caves to work through… you name it, we have fun doing it!

Here at Porthpean we offer two different coasteering options.

Guided by fully trained and well-equipped instructors, groups can head North, on a coastal traverse, past unique manmade caves, historic points, and rocky gulleys. This route gives the opportunity to explore the coast and its rich history while scrambling, climbing, and working as a team to reach the end point at Duporth beach and Polmear Island. Your group will have an epic time while learning about the intertidal zone that spends half of its secretive life under the waves.

The second route will see your group head South from Porthpean beach. This is a more challenging coasteering route, and we use the versatility of our Mega SUP’s to transport us from one play spot to another.

Our instructors will guide you through large sea caves, natural archways, and around rocky reef points. Accessing some beautiful jumping spots along the way. Learn about one of the largest seagrass beds in the UK, or about our local seal population.

All group members will receive a safety briefing and all equipment needed to keep you warm and safe. The state of the tide will dictate which routes and play spots are available to us, giving your group a unique and varied experience, no two coasteering sessions are the same, so come along and explore the coast with us!
