Established in the 1940s, Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre is regarded as the home of school residentials within Cornwall.

The centre has stayed true to its roots, always being developed with school groups at the fore. The facilities at Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre are based around the needs of children, considering every element of a residential stay.

The Stage

When taking over the centre, the new owners sought feedback as to how Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre could improve. The one aspect that was universally offered by past school groups was ‘better evening entertainment’. It was quickly decided we would remedy this and so The Stage was born! The Stage, based in the heart of the Camping Villages, comes alive at night with evening performances to entertain our resident guests.

At Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre, we offer around the clock, 24 hour support for schools.  This includes a dedicated overnight manager; help at hand when you need it, no matter the time of night.

Toilet & Shower Provision

Safeguarding is at the heart of how we operate at the centre. We offer private and separate facilities for boys, girls, male teaching staff, and female teaching staff, plus dedicated accessible facilities.  Shower time is offered in timed blocks to your school ensuring as little waiting around as possible.

Car and Coach Parking

We are fortunate to be able to offer parking for both cars and coaches at Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre. As part of the booking process, we will ask you to detail all vehicles and ETAs to allow us to best accommodate your needs and the needs of other schools staying with us.

new for 2024 – The Hub

At the epicentre of Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre you will find the Hub. The Hub functions as a dining venue and entertainment space. Akin to a function venue, one minute you’ll be sitting down enjoying a meal, the next (after a quick turnaround), you’ll be throwing some moves at our silent disco.

new for 2024 – The Boardroom

Inspired by our company’s roots and our love of surfing, The Boardroom provides a laid-back dedicated space for teaching staff to relax in during their stay at Porthpean. Here you’ll find a few creature comforts with sofas and complimentary hot drinks. We’ve added some practical touches as well, with a workspace and wi-fi, knowing teachers always will have at least one job to attend to on the laptop!

As the Cornish among you will know, The Crib, named after the slang for snack time, is our on-site tuck shop, offering a small selection of drinks, snacks, and merchandise for sale.
